Summer is approaching rapidly and yet I look forward to fall. I’ll be embodying the spirit of Ouiser in the Great Plains Production of Steel Magnolias in September. Kansas City area people: a trip to Abilene for a play is a great day trip. Leave around 9 a.m. to arrive about noon. Plenty of time to have a nice lunch before the 2 pm curtain. After the play you can grab a snack or meal and head for home arriving before 9 p.m. Keep it in mind for a lovely September get-away. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you again.
I was in California for a spell earlier this year and was fortunate to see a production of “Buddy Holly”. Buddy played by Ralph Krumins was a sensation. His energy and stage presence was supported by an equally strong cast. What a delight. Whenever you are in the Sonora, California area you must check out the Sonora Repertory Theatre. Fabulous productions.
Back home again to see Spinning Tree’s production of “Hello Again”. Once again kudos to Andy Parkhurst and Michael Grayman for finding and employing such strong local talent. They produce plays seldom or never before seen in the area. What a great job they are doing.
